Belgrade (Serbia), 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – Serbian police have reported that an unidentified assailant attacked a security guard with knives outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade and was shot dead shortly after midnight. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated that the police are treating the incident as a “terrorist attack” and have raised the terror alert level to its highest, stepping up the police presence at key locations. “A minor, as yet unidentified, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, assaulted a member of the Gendarmerie and attacked him with two knives,” said Dacic, adding that the police officer had “neutralised” the attacker in “self-defence” and sustained minor injuries.
