The announcement came a day after artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced in a social media post its intention to allocate 5% of its shares to a new “public benefit” fund. In response to the message posted Sunday, Musk wrote: “I recommend distributing the shares directly to the public.” SpaceX shares closed at $146.03 on Friday. On Sunday, Anthropic explained that the shares it intends to allocate to the fund will flow into the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new internal entity within the company. The fund’s value could increase over time, in parallel with any growth in the value of the shares.
