It was, unequivocally, a message directed at the Western world.” This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, at the European Arctic Summit, regarding the Russian attack on the train at the border between Ukraine and Poland. “I believe,” she added, “that the issue for us is to understand what lesson to draw from that message: I believe we should do exactly the opposite. We must show that we stand with Ukraine and will not be intimidated; otherwise, Russia would get what it wants, namely Ukraine’s submission. And, as I have said many times before, this is not their ultimate goal: their ambitions go far beyond that, so we must maintain a firm stance.”
