Frankfurt (Germany), Sept. 8 (LaPresse) – The United Kingdom will allocate £100 million to an air defence package for Ukraine, including Patriot missiles, other interception systems, large-calibre ammunition and drones, to be supplied before winter. The British Defence Ministry announced this. The contribution is part of Ukraine’s list of priority needs coordinated by NATO and will be used to protect critical infrastructure, civilians and armed forces from Russian attacks. London also confirmed its commitment to provide more than 120,000 drones in 2026: 25,000 have already been delivered. The United Kingdom has also recently delivered the millionth large-calibre artillery shell to Ukraine and, together with Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, will fund the supply of tens of thousands of long-range artillery rounds in the coming months. The announcement comes on the occasion of the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, co-chaired by British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, attended by nearly 50 countries. London has also authorized MBDA to disclose classified information on the British components of Scalp/Storm Shadow missiles, to allow assembly lines to be set up in Ukraine.
