(LaPresse) – Two senior officials at Reform UK have resigned following an internal investigation by the far-right British party into claims regarding funding that were broadcast during a Channel 4 News report. Dan Jukes, a close associate of Nigel Farage, and James Orr, Reform’s head of policy, have both resigned pending the outcome of the internal investigation. In the Channel 4 report, which was broadcast last night, covertly filmed footage showed Jukes suggesting to Farage a way to circumvent electoral law in order to secure a foreign donation of £500,000 for the party. British electoral law stipulates that, in order to donate to a political party in the UK, one must be a registered voter or a company registered in the country. The undercover footage was filmed by a group called Verbatim Investigations, founded by journalists from the Centre for Climate Reporting. Channel 4 News states that it has verified the material received and has chosen to broadcast it. Reform has denied any wrongdoing and claimed it was “the victim of a hoax orchestrated by foreign-funded climate activists”.
