Turin, 31 Aug. (LaPresse) – Deputy Minister Edmondo Cirielli, after consulting Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, has authorized a humanitarian aid package worth 250,000 euros for the population of Nepal affected by the severe floods of 26 August. The contributions will support the activities of UNICEF and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Farnesina reports this. Specifically, Italian support for UNICEF will make it possible to provide immediate assistance to the affected population, with particular attention to children and the most vulnerable families, while funding for the IFRC will support emergency and early recovery interventions in the areas of protection, assistance, health, essential goods, water and sanitation, psychosocial support and the restoration of family links. Deputy Minister Cirielli also approved the replenishment of the bilateral emergency fund managed by UNICEF for a value of 1 million euros, to enable the UN agency to intervene rapidly in situations of emergencies and sudden crises.
