Immigrant visa applicants with interviews scheduled at U.S. embassies and consulates have received an email informing them that their appointments had been postponed and promising a new date. “A more prosperous America means ensuring that visa applicants do not risk becoming a burden on the public, as defined by U.S. law and regulations, and that they do not become dependent on U.S. public benefits reserved for needy and eligible American citizens,” a State Department spokesperson told the Financial Times.
