Iran: Araghchi meets with his Omani counterpart; plans for a temporary joint corridor in the Strait of Hormuz

Rome, 25 Aug. (LaPresse) – Following a meeting between the respective foreign ministers, Abbas Araghchi and Badr Al-Busaidi, in Tehran, Iran and Oman issued a joint statement regarding the “resumption of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, whilst respecting their sovereignty and sovereign rights”. The two ministers – the statement reads – discussed a phased approach involving “the establishment of a temporary joint shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement to implement a joint project to clear the Strait of mines”.
