Turin, 24 Aug. (LaPresse) – “Today I took part in the Coalition of the Willing to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, support ahead of winter and further pressure on Moscow. Through the support loan to Ukraine, the EU has already disbursed €8.47 billion to support defence, with further aid, including for air defence, in the pipeline. This autumn, I will propose tougher sanctions against Russia, and we are further tightening the noose around Russia’s shadow fleet to deprive Moscow of the resources needed to finance the war. The stronger we make Ukraine, the more quickly we will force Russia to the negotiating table.” This was written on X by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. “On Ukraine’s Independence Day,” she adds, “we pay tribute to the extraordinary courage of the Ukrainian people. For more than a third of the time since it became a sovereign nation, Ukraine has had to fight to prevent Russia from depriving it of its freedom.”
