Rome, 23 Aug. (LaPresse) – “I believe that during a war like this, elections in general pose a great risk. Elections at this moment are a tsunami for the state that could divide Ukraine.” This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a statement reported by Ukrainska Pravda, in response to calls from former Defence Minister Fedorov. “Therefore, my strategy is to lead the country to the end of the war and preserve an independent and sovereign state. And I am implementing it,” he added. Last year, Zelensky had stated that he was prepared not to stand for re-election as president if the war with Russia came to an end.
