Turin, 18 August (LaPresse) – Rodney Mims Cook Jr., the US official tasked with overseeing the controversial extension works to the White House ballroom commissioned by President Donald Trump, met with Kremlin officials in Russia this summer as part of a confidential diplomatic mission. This is according to the Financial Times. According to some sources, Cook, chairman of the US Commission of Fine Arts, received a detailed briefing before attending the St Petersburg Economic Forum in June, where the meeting is said to have taken place. Cook described the trip as a “cultural visit”. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in June that he was “not aware” of the delegation to St Petersburg. Cook was the first US official to attend the St Petersburg International Economic Forum since 2018, a major international event known as ‘Putin’s Davos’.
