Rome, 14 August (LaPresse) – “Today, during a monitoring flight over the central Mediterranean, the crew of the Albatross – the monitoring aircraft jointly operated by SOS Méditerranée and the Humanitarian Pilots Initiative (HPI) – witnessed a heart-wrenching scene: the bodies of 11 people floating in the sea, in an advanced state of decomposition. As the aircraft flew at a lower altitude, the crew were able to make out further details: some of the bodies were still wearing clothes, whilst others were floating thanks to tyre inner tubes.” This was reported in a press release published on the SOS Méditerranée website.
