The civil case was brought against Boeing by Naoise Connolly Ryan, the widow of Michael ‘Mick’ Ryan, an engineer with the United Nations World Food Programme, who was one of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines crash that killed all 157 people on board. Ryan had worked during the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and with Rohingya refugees, and was 39 years old at the time of the crash.
