Colombia earthquake, Von der Leyen: “We are allocating €2 million to the affected areas”

Milan, 12 Aug. (LaPresse) – “Whilst search and rescue operations continue, the EU is providing support to Colombia in every way possible. We are allocating €2 million to support communities in the worst-hit areas.” This is what EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote in a post on social media platform X following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck the country on Monday. “Following Colombia’s activation of the civil protection mechanism, we are working to tailor aid to the needs on the ground,” she added, “this is European solidarity.”
