Jerusalem, Aug. 6 (LaPresse/AP) — Israeli prosecutors have charged a settler with the murder of Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen, known for her role in the Oscar-winning documentary *No Other Land*, which took place last year in the occupied West Bank. The indictment charges Yinon Levi with manslaughter by negligence. Levi will also face charges of armed trespassing and malicious damage to property. Under Israeli law, the crime of manslaughter by negligence carries a lesser penalty than intentional homicide. The Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem has pointed out that this is the first indictment against an Israeli for the killing of a Palestinian in the West Bank since October 7, 2023. Since then, settlers and soldiers have killed at least 1,100 Palestinians.
