Washington (USA), Aug. 5 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump said he has not yet decided whether to fire Washington federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro after she stated that the damage to the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington was due to poor workmanship rather than acts of vandalism. “I haven’t made a decision yet,” Trump told reporters, responding to a question about whether he would remove her from office, shortly before boarding Air Force One in Los Angeles. According to media reports, the president met with Pirro, his longtime ally and former Fox News host, on Monday after criticizing her office’s decision to drop vandalism charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn. Federal prosecutors, in a filing submitted last week seeking dismissal of the charges, said that evidence regarding problems with the installation of the Reflecting Pool’s blue lining – which had begun floating on the water shortly after reopening – made it difficult to prove that vandalism had occurred. Trump and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, however, argued that vandals had cut the pool’s lining shortly after its reopening ahead of the July 4 celebrations in Washington. Trump also said that he was not “100 percent satisfied with the contractor.”
