Ukraine, Kallas: ‘With this sanctions package, we are hitting Putin where it hurts’

Brussels, 23 July (LaPresse) – “We have reached an agreement on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. It includes drastic measures targeting Moscow’s financial system, its military-industrial complex and the energy sector – elements that are fundamental to the functioning of Russia’s war economy. We are striking at Putin’s Achilles’ heel: by cutting off the financial channels he needs to sustain his war,” said the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas. “This is not the final step on sanctions. We are already working on the next steps. The EU must be ready to respond to any further Russian escalation,” she added.
