London (United Kingdom), 20 July (LaPresse) – Andy Burnham is set to become the United Kingdom’s seventh Prime Minister since 2016 today. After spending several weeks as the UK’s Prime Minister-designate, Burnham will take office today, succeeding Keir Starmer, who this morning will walk the distance from Downing Street to Buckingham Palace to formally tender his resignation to King Charles III. Shortly afterwards, Burnham will travel to the Palace, where King Charles III will ask him to form a government. He will officially become Prime Minister during a ceremony known as the ‘kissing of the hand’. Burnham will then proceed to Downing Street, where it is customary for new Prime Ministers to deliver a brief speech outside.
