Washington (US), 15 July (LaPresse) – US forces have implemented a naval blockade against Iran, rendering an empty oil tanker inoperable as it attempted to head for an Iranian port in the Arabian Gulf. The US Central Command announced this in a post on X, reporting that US forces “spotted the M/T Belma, flying the flag of Curaçao, whilst sailing in international waters bound for the island of Kharg. The commercial vessel ignored several warnings in an attempt to breach the US blockade. A US aircraft disabled the vessel after striking its funnel with Hellfire missiles. The vessel is no longer heading towards Iran.” In the first 24 hours since the naval blockade of Iranian ports was reinstated, Centcom reports, US forces have redirected two commercial vessels that complied with the regulations and disabled one that did not.
