The Erawan Emergency Centre in the Thai capital reports that more than 70 people were injured, 30 of whom remain in hospital, 15 of them in intensive care. The fire at the Rong Beer Na Ladprao bar was the deadliest recorded in the city in the last 17 years. It broke out on Sunday evening in the northern part of the city, and it took the fire brigade half an hour to bring it under control. An investigation is underway into the causes of the fire and to ascertain whether the venue complied with safety regulations. On Wednesday, survivors and relatives of the victims went to a police station near the scene of the incident to claim compensation, retrieve their personal belongings and give statements about the fire.
