Rome, 13 July (LaPresse) – A Russian attack struck a civilian merchant ship flying the Togolese flag whilst it was unloading mineral fertilisers in the port of Odessa, killing three crew members and injuring five others. This was reported by Oleksii Kuleba, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, as quoted by the Kyiv Independent. The strike hit the ship’s superstructure, causing a fire on board. The injured sailors were taken to hospital and are receiving medical treatment. The Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister condemned the attack, describing it as “yet another Russian attack on Ukraine’s civilian shipping and port infrastructure”. “These attacks threaten the safety of international shipping, the stability of global trade and global food security,” he added.
