Rome, 15 June (LaPresse) – ‘We hope to pass the regulation before Christmas and then bring the ban into force at the start of next year, probably in the spring,’ Starmer explained at a press conference. ‘This is not something I take lightly, and I won’t present it as gratuitous, as if social media had brought no benefits to young people, because clearly that is wrong,’ he added. ‘But government is always about choices, and it is clear that a total ban is the right choice.’ The British Prime Minister noted that, as a father of two, he is well aware of ‘the fears we all feel’ regarding social media and that he has always wanted nothing more than for his children ‘to be happy and safe’.
