Turin, 5 June (LaPresse) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed Donald Trump’s comments regarding a possible meeting between the US president and Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, stating that the matter should be assessed “realistically” and “in the real context”. Araghchi, quoted by Iran International, said that security agencies had advised against increasing Khamenei’s public appearances for security reasons. The minister added that communication with Khamenei remains “ongoing” and that his instructions are received “at the appropriate time” and acted upon accordingly. “Mojtaba Khamenei is now the leader of the Islamic Republic and plays a very close and influential role in the country’s developments,” Araghchi said. “He has full control of affairs. The same level of obedience and loyalty that existed towards the martyred leader now exists exactly towards the new leader of the revolution,” he emphasised.
