Brussels, May 29 (LaPresse) – “We confirm receipt of Prime Minister Meloni’s letter and will respond in due course. Protecting public health is the Commission’s top priority. We have been closely monitoring the outbreak since the beginning. This is a situation that requires vigilance. EU systems are active, and we are working closely with our international partners to monitor the evolving situation.” This was reported by a spokesperson for the European Commission. “We have the channels and tools,” she added, “to act quickly. The EU is mobilizing aid, logistical resources, expert support, and public health tools to help affected countries contain the outbreak and reduce the risk of further transmission. The EU supports rapid coordination at the European level and with affected countries, the WHO, the Africa CDC, and partners on the ground to help contain the virus and stop the outbreak as soon as possible. The ECDC currently assesses that the likelihood of infection for European citizens is very low, and also low for those living in or traveling to affected areas.”
