Rotterdam (Netherlands), 18 May (LaPresse) – The cruise ship affected by a hantavirus outbreak, the MV Hondius, has begun docking in the Dutch port of Rotterdam to undergo disinfection, thus bringing to an end a troubled voyage that has put international health authorities on alert. There are 25 crew members and two medical staff on board the vessel, whilst all passengers had already been disembarked previously. The crew will be placed in quarantine immediately. Three passengers on board the ship have died as a result of the outbreak, including a Dutch couple who, according to health officials, were the first to be exposed to the virus during a trip to South America.
