Rome, 13 May (LaPresse) – Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles has stated that Australia will support a potential “independent and strictly defensive” multinational military mission aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to be led by the United Kingdom and France. “We want this conflict to end, the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened and freedom of navigation to resume. The longer this conflict lasts, the greater the impact on Australia,” he said in a statement. Australia will contribute to the mission with its E-7A Wedgetail reconnaissance aircraft, Marles explained.
