Government, Ribera: ‘Trump’s attacks on Meloni? Enough of these constant threats’

Barcelona (Spain), 17 Apr. (LaPresse) – “It is highly significant that, when a man of peace, such as the Pope, defends peace and respect for the rights of the defenceless civilian population, we encounter extremely aggressive messages from those holding prominent political office; and that when the leader of a sovereign country decides to respect and ensure compliance with principles and international law, he is criticised. I believe it is essential to reiterate that only on the basis of mutual respect can we continue to move forward‘ and that we must ’firmly reject these constant threats that some seem to use as a means of trying to convince others; well, no, threats do not convince anyone”. This was stated by the Vice-President of the European Commission, the Spanish socialist Teresa Ribera, in response to LaPresse regarding the recent attacks by US President Donald Trump on Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Italian government, on the sidelines of the Global Progressive Mobilisation in Barcelona.
