Iran: Conference of non-belligerent countries on Friday in Paris to discuss mission in the Strait of Hormuz

Milan, 14 Apr. (LaPresse) – French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will jointly chair a conference in Paris on Friday bringing together non-belligerent countries willing to participate in a mission in the Strait of Hormuz to protect shipping ‘when security conditions permit’. The Élysée Palace announced this, adding that other participants will take part in the event via videoconference. European partners and others are ready to contribute to a “purely defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz”, the statement reads. France and the UK have been working in recent weeks to organise an escort operation for oil tankers and container ships to ensure safe passage through the Strait.
