Turin, 31 March (LaPresse) – ‘From the statements by Zelensky that we have read, we have not found a clearly formulated initiative for an Easter truce. As always, he spoke of his willingness and his desire to agree to a truce, of any kind, including an Easter truce. This is what President Zelensky spoke about.’ This was stated to journalists by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the Ukrainian president’s remarks and discussing the prospects of an Easter truce, as reported by the Interfax news agency. “We reiterate once again: Zelensky must take responsibility and make the appropriate decisions so that we can make progress towards peace, not towards a truce,” he added. ‘It is clear that the regime in Kyiv desperately needs a ceasefire, any ceasefire, because the situation on the front line – which, incidentally, is being monitored not only by our specialists but also by foreign ones – indicates that Russian troops are advancing – faster in some places, slower in others – along the entire front line,’ he noted. Therefore, he continued, Zelensky ‘can and must make a timely decision’.
