US: Bannon proposes: ‘ICE officers at polling stations for the midterm elections’

Washington (USA), 24 March (LaPresse) – The presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at airports to assist with screening operations constitutes a “dress rehearsal” ahead of November’s mid-term elections. This is the suggestion put forward by Steve Bannon, Donald Trump’s former chief strategist and ideologue of the ‘MAGA’ movement. During a conversation with conservative lawyer Mike Davis on his programme “War Room”, Bannon asked: ‘Can we capitalise on what is happening with these ICE officers assisting at airports? Can we use all of this as a dress rehearsal, as a case study to really refine ICE’s involvement in the 2026 mid-term elections?’ Davis replied: “Yes, I think we should have ICE agents at polling stations; because if you’re an undocumented foreigner, you can’t vote, right? It’s against the law; voting in federal elections is a federal offence. “And so, if you’re an American citizen, you should be glad that ICE is there, because there won’t be any undocumented foreigners spoiling your vote,” he added. “Exactly,” replied Bannon. “Identify them and remove them from the queue starting today, and perhaps the queues will get shorter.” Since yesterday, ICE agents have begun providing support at various airports to agents and officials of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Due to the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, hundreds of TSA employees have resigned and absenteeism rates have risen significantly, causing long waiting times at security checks at all national airports.
