Iran, Defence Council: ‘If we are invaded, we will mine the Persian Gulf’

Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 23 March (LaPresse) – Iran’s Defence Council has threatened to deploy naval mines throughout the “Persian Gulf” in the event of a ground invasion. The statement comes as concern grows in Tehran over the possible arrival of US Marines in the region. “Any attempt by the enemy to strike Iran’s coasts or islands will, naturally and in accordance with established military practice, lead to the deployment of mines across all access routes into the Persian Gulf and along the coasts,” the Council stated.
