Iran, Guterres visits Beirut: ‘Solidarity with Lebanon dragged into war’

Milan, 13 March (LaPresse/AP) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has begun his visit to Beirut. A visit, he reported on X, in solidarity with ‘the Lebanese people’. Speaking about the latest wave of fighting that broke out on 2 March, when Hezbollah launched rockets against northern Israel, the UN secretary-general said that the Lebanese people ‘did not choose this war. They were dragged into it.’ Guterres added that he will spare no effort to ensure that Lebanon and this region have the peaceful future they ‘fully deserve.’
