Washington (USA), 3 February (LaPresse) – Donald Trump’s call to “nationalise” the electoral vote referred to the need for a national voter identification requirement. This was clarified by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt when speaking to reporters. ‘The president was referring to the SAVE Act,’ the official said, adding that Trump had discussed the bill with Republican leaders in Congress. The bill, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, ‘provides common-sense measures for voting in our country, such as voter identification,’ Leavitt said.
