Milan, 21 January (LaPresse) – Former South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for playing a key role in the brief imposition of martial law by former President Yoon Suk Yeol in 2024. This was reported by the South Korean news agency Yonhap. The Seoul Central District Court issued the sentence as part of a verdict confirming that the declaration of martial law on 3 December 2024 constituted an insurrection. Special prosecutor Cho Eun-suk’s team had sought a 15-year prison sentence for Han on charges of aiding the leader of the insurrection, playing a key role in the insurrection and perjury.
