Milan, 15 January (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump has told his national security team that he would like any military action in Iran to deal a swift and decisive blow to the regime and not trigger a prolonged war that would drag on for weeks or months. This is according to an exclusive report by NBC News, citing several sources. ‘If he does anything, he wants it to be definitive,’ said one of the people familiar with the discussions. However, other sources cited by the same broadcaster point out that so far, Trump’s advisers have been unable to guarantee that the regime would collapse quickly after a US military attack. According to NBC, ‘there is concern that the United States may not have all the resources it needs in the region to protect itself from what administration officials expect to be an aggressive response from Iran.’
