Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 14 Jan. (LaPresse/AP) – The head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, announced in a video shared online by Iranian state television that there will be swift trials and executions for those arrested during the nationwide protests, despite warnings from US President Donald Trump. ‘If we want to do something, we have to do it now. If we want to do something, we have to do it quickly,’ he said, ‘if we wait too long, two or three months later, it will not have the same effect. If we want to do something, we have to do it quickly.’ Mohseni-Ejei’s statements come after some activists warned that the hangings of detainees could take place soon.
