Crans-Montana: police say fire caused by pyrotechnic fountains

Milan, 4 January (LaPresse) – ‘Based on the current state of the investigation, the fire’ on New Year’s Eve at the “Le Constellation” bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, “was caused by the use of “fountains”. These are non-metallic devices containing a pyrotechnic composition that produces sparks and flames. They are designed to be placed on the ground, fixed to the ground or to a support, or held in the hand.‘ This is stated in a press release summarising the Swiss cantonal police investigation. ’Initial witness statements describe a fire that spread rapidly, generating a large amount of smoke and intense heat. Everything happened very quickly. Subsequent investigations will focus, in particular, on analysing the file obtained from the municipality, verifying the compliance of the work carried out by those responsible, the materials used, emergency access routes, fire-fighting equipment and compliance with fire safety regulations,” the statement continues.
