USA: blackout in San Francisco leaves 130,000 users without power

Rome, 21 December (LaPresse/AP) – A blackout left 130,000 homes and businesses without power in San Francisco on Saturday, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Co. The outage left a large area of the northern part of the city in the dark, starting with the Richmond and Presidio neighbourhoods and the areas around Golden Gate Park in the early afternoon, and then spreading further. The blackout affected about one-third of the utility’s customers. At least some of the power outages were caused by a fire that broke out inside a substation.
