Earthquakes, in Japan the toll stands at 33 injured after 7.5-magnitude quake

Tokyo, Dec. 9 (LaPresse) – At least 33 people were injured after the 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck around 11:15 p.m. on Monday off the coast of Aomori, the northernmost prefecture of Japan’s main island of Honshu. A tsunami more than 60 cm above tide level was measured in the port of Kuji, in Iwate Prefecture, before all tsunami warnings were lifted. Electricity was cut off in hundreds of homes, but has been largely restored this morning. Japan is assessing the damage and warning the population about the risk of aftershocks.
