Pope Leo XIV: ‘Christians and Orthodox Christians are called to be peacemakers’

Rome, 30 Nov. (LaPresse) – “In this time of bloody conflicts and violence in places near and far, Catholics and Orthodox Christians are called to be builders of peace. This certainly means acting and making choices and signs that build peace, but without forgetting that peace is not only the fruit of human effort, but also a gift from God. Therefore, peace is sought through prayer, penance, contemplation, and that living relationship with the Lord that helps us discern the words, gestures, and actions to be taken, so that they may truly be at the service of peace.” Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV to Patriarch Bartholomew I during the Divine Liturgy in the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul.
