Gaza: Hamas rejects UN resolution

Rome, 18 Nov. (LaPresse) – Hamas rejects the United Nations plan to send international forces to Gaza. ‘The resolution imposes an international protection mechanism on the Gaza Strip, which our people and their factions reject,’ the Palestinian Islamist group said in a lengthy statement on Telegram. ‘Assigning tasks and roles to the international force within the Gaza Strip, including disarming the resistance, deprives it of its neutrality and turns it into a party to the conflict in favour of the Israeli occupation,’ the statement continued. ‘Any international force, if established, must be deployed only at the borders to separate the forces, monitor the ceasefire and must be under the full supervision of the United Nations,’ it concludes.
