Manila (Philippines), 9 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – Super Typhoon Fung-wong struck the north-eastern coast of the Philippines today before making landfall, killing at least two people and forcing over a million to evacuate areas at risk of flash floods, landslides and tidal waves, authorities said. The typhoon could cover two-thirds of the Southeast Asian archipelago with its 1,800-kilometre-wide band of rain and wind, meteorologists said. It unleashed winds of up to 185 km/h and gusts of up to 230 km/h. It approached from the Pacific as the Philippines is still dealing with the devastation caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi, which killed at least 224 people in central provinces on Tuesday before hitting Vietnam, where at least five people lost their lives.
