Rome, 18 October (LaPresse) – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that local ceasefire zones have been established to allow repairs to be carried out on the power lines supplying the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. ‘Repair work has begun on the damaged external power lines supplying the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant after a four-week interruption, following the creation of local ceasefire zones to allow the work to continue,’ said Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, according to the IAEA report on X. ‘Restoring external power supply is critical for nuclear safety. Both parties,’ namely Ukraine and Russia, ‘have cooperated constructively with the IAEA to allow the complex repair plan to continue,’ Grossi added.
