Gaza, media: ‘Rafah crossing will not be opened today’

Milan, 15 October (LaPresse) – ‘The Rafah crossing will not open today,’ probably not tomorrow either, and ‘it is not known when it will open.’ This was stated by an Israeli security source, according to Ynet. According to the source, reopening ‘would not even be possible from a logistical point of view,’ because it is necessary to ‘go to the site to carry out checks and send a reconnaissance team, which takes time. It can be assumed that tomorrow they will also decide to keep the Rafah crossing closed.’ According to the same source, 600 lorries carrying humanitarian aid are entering through Kerem Shalom, in accordance with the agreement. This source’s version conflicts with the information reported this morning by the Israeli broadcaster Kan, according to which the Israeli government had decided to cancel the sanctions on Gaza planned for today, which included limiting humanitarian aid and closing the Rafah border crossing between the Strip and Egypt, as a result of Hamas returning four more bodies of deceased hostages.
