NATO, Berlin: ‘Russian provocations to test our determination’

Frankfurt (Germany), 29 September (LaPresse) – On the eve of his visit to Warsaw, German Foreign Minister Wadephul described Poland as ‘more than a neighbour: a partner and friend with whom we can defend freedom in Europe together’. He will discuss bilateral cooperation on security with his Polish counterpart Radek Sikorski, from the presence of Patriot systems in Rzeszów to coordination in the protection of critical infrastructure. The minister also relaunched the role of the Weimar Triangle (Germany, Poland, France) as a platform for European cohesion, ‘more necessary than ever’ in light of Moscow’s aggressive behaviour. Wadephul denounced Russia’s continued violations of NATO airspace as ‘provocations to test our resolve’ and reiterated: ‘We will respond with unity and firmness, ready to repel any threat.’
