Brussels, August 30 (LaPresse) – “Germany will not support, for the time being, European Union sanctions against Israel over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.” This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul upon his arrival at the informal Foreign Affairs Council (Gymnich) in Copenhagen.
“Participation in the Horizon Europe program is a collaboration in the civil field. I was not aware that cooperation between the European Union and civil organizations in Israel would have an effect on the military. Therefore, we are not very satisfied with these proposals. But it is true that we must be ready for sanctions. Germany, however, is limiting arms supplies to Israel. I believe this is a very targeted, very important, and very necessary measure,” he added.
