With democracy in danger, the festivities begin
(LaPresse) Jair Bolsonaro opened the military parade in Brasilia that kicked off the country’s bicentennial Independence celebrations. Escorted by a tank, Bolsonaro arrived at the parade in the classic black presidential Rolls Royce, with the presidential sash on his chest, accompanied by first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, and some children. The couple smiled and waved to the audience as they advanced through the Esplanade of Ministries. Bolsonaro then got out of the vehicle and proceeded on foot, approaching the thousands of people crowded to follow the military parade, which was joined by several tractors carrying followers of the president.
