The Iraqi army imposed a curfew.

(LaPresse) – Hundreds of supporters of Iraqi Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr stormed Baghdad’s presidential palace inside the ‘Green Zone’ after their leader made known his willingness to retire from political life. Protesters entered the palace’s waiting rooms chanting slogans in support of the cleric. The Iraqi army imposed a curfew. al-Sadr had called on all political leaders to step down from their posts in order to break the stalemate that arose from the October 2021 elections, from which no government has yet emerged.
