The big cats are Sumatran tigers, a critically endangered species.
(LaPresse) – The London Zoo has released a video depicting three Sumatran tiger cubs born last June 27 at the British facility. The images of the big cats were filmed from a hidden “cubcam” as the 10-year-old mother, Gaysha, tenderly cares for and then cleans her cubs. Also in the images is the father Asim, gently approaching his children. fewer than 400 Sumatran tigers are estimated to remain in the wild. This subspecies is listed as “Critically Endangered” on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species due to poaching, habitat loss and human-wildlife interactions.
