The key issues will be: the recovery of the global economy, policies aimed at advancing gender equality

Vaccines, climate and relations with the US, but also with Russia and China. The greats of the world are once again meeting in Cornwall for the first G7 in attendance since the beginning of the pandemic and Covid is still the “leading actor”. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has launched an appeal to “vaccinate the world by the end of 2022”. Journalists are kept at a distance, with a Media center about 60 kilometers away, in the town of Falmouth, and very strict procedures to contain the risk of spreading the virus.

The leaders of the G7 will be virtually joined by experts, including Sir Patrick Vallance, Melinda French Gates and David Attenborough. The summit will open tomorrow at 12.30 with a short coordination meeting between EU leaders, followed by an informal breakfast and a welcome ceremony. In the afternoon, the start of the first working session will focus on national policies towards a greener and more digital recovery, the role of the G7 in supporting the recovery of the global economy, policies aimed at advancing gender equality.
